Sheffield Wednesday's sorry state of affairs have continued into the month of October

Sheffield Wednesday's ongoing crisis under the controversial ownership of Dejphon Chansiri has deepened further, with supporters ultimately considering greater courses of action to make their voices heard.

The Thai businessman's reign in the Hillsborough boardroom was already one of controversy after falling from Championship promotion contenders to a spell in League One between 2016 and 2021. However, the atmosphere in this part of the Steel City has reached extreme levels of anger and apathy as a result of fresh developments.

As a result, Henrik Pedersen and his threadbare squad have been left with the somewhat impossible task of preserving the Owls' status as a Championship club for another season, with the threat of a points deduction and potential administration looming large over the October international break.

Yet, whilst those on the pitch - including a group of highly-rated youngsters who have been added to the first-team fold as a result of the club's drastic plight - continue to earn praise for their conduct, the same certainly cannot be said for Chansiri, who's actions are affecting a mass number of supporters and staff in S6, including Football League World's Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna.

It was reported last week that the club's senior players and staff had - for the fifth time in six months - not received their monthly wages for September in the required timeframe, with a points deduction described as 'inevitable' by reporters as well as being hit by another embargo as a result, whilst it remains to be seen if the club have paid an outstanding £7.3m loan linked to the threat of administration.

Interested buyer and former Crystal Palace stakeholder, John Textor, has also reportedly seen talks with Chansiri hit a snag despite claims that the Wednesday owner could drop his valuation of the club from £100m to approximately £70m.

And, following a protest in the 10th minute of Saturday's 5-0 home defeat to Coventry City, it was claimed that Chansiri is putting takeover negotiations on the backburner as he looks to find investment in order to pay off owed funds and the remainder of the club's annual wage bill.

Unsurprisingly, this fresh set of circumstances has left McKenna extremely angry, but not surprised in the slightest.

"In regards to reports on Chansiri trying to get investment in. At this stage, you have to laugh, don't you," he said.

"I didn't think I could have any more contempt for Dejphon Chansiri, but each day, it makes me realise how incompetent he is, and how he's totally unsuitable to be in charge and own a football club," McKenna claimed.

"If you try to explain to people that he won't sell, people ask me 'how can he not?', 'why hasn't he sold yet?'

"As a fan, how he runs the club is generating so much anger in me. It does take a toll that he is trying to destroy something that means so much to me and thousands of others," he stated.

"I'm really angry with him for how he's playing with people's livelihoods. All the staff at the club.

"It's absolutely ridiculous that he won't sell the club and is trying to hold on. But, when you hear reports like this, it shows, as fans, that we need to ramp up the protests and just keep pushing for him to sell the club," McKenna explained.

"Don't lose your focus, don't let him grind you down. As a fanbase, we can unite, ramp up the protests and get him out of the club."

Sheffield Wednesday support to take strong action against Dejphon Chansiri in upcoming Middlesbrough clash

There have been many ways in which Wednesdayites have voiced their displeasure towards Chansiri, and it has reached a point where the strongest course of action has now been outlined by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust.

With supporters backing the 'Black and Gold until it's sold' campaign, which has led to boycotts from recent EFL Cup encounters with Leeds United and Grimsby Town, as well as Saturday's protest in which a minority of supporters entered the field of play, the trust has urged all to resist renewing their season tickets in any potential upcoming 'early-bird' offer in which they are usually cheaper.

However, they have also encouraged a full boycott of Hillsborough for the upcoming clash with Middlesbrough on October 22nd, meaning the club will not have to reinvest anywhere near as much money into security and hospitality for the fixture.

They have called on supporters to instead watch the game in a local pub or social club, where they know the money is staying within the community Wednesday serve, rather than in Chansiri's coffers.
