Santos were booed at Vila Belmiro after a draw with Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana. According to Diario Do Peixe, Gabigol said the team did not play badly.

Recoleta fielded a reserve side and Gabigol was involved in the move for Santos’ goal. He was replaced by Thaciano on 63 minutes, drawing boos from some in the crowd, and responded with a smile. More whistles followed at full time as the team left the pitch.

On Thursday 16 at 21:30 Brasília time in Buenos Aires, Deportivo Cuenca face San Lorenzo in the other game of the round. The Ecuadorians lead the group on three points, the Argentines have one and sit third.

With only one point from two games, Santos must react quickly to stay in contention for a place in the next phase. They now host Fluminense on Sunday 19 at 16:00 at Vila Belmiro in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
