Gabriel Paulista’s left foot delivered in another final, the Corinthians centre-back scoring in the Supercopa do Brasil win over Flamengo. According to Meu Timao, it repeated a pattern from earlier in his career.

At Mané Garrincha in Brasília, he opened the scoring after a Gustavo Henrique flicked header, finishing with his left. Yuri Alberto secured the victory and the title with a last-gasp goal.

Back in 2013, in the first leg of the Campeonato Baiano final, he scored in Vitória’s 7-3 win over Bahia, also with his left, though it came via an unintended deflection while his back was to goal.

Aged 35, this was the 18th goal of his professional career since his 2010 debut with Vitória. Only two have come with his left, both in finals, including this one.

He has 13 headed goals from aerial situations and three with his right. He had not scored since August 2024, when he netted his only goal for Besiktas of Türkiye against Samsunspor. His most productive spell came at Valencia, where he scored eight.

Signed in January, he is striving to cement a starting place. This was his fifth appearance and he started. He is back in contention for Dorival Júnior on Thursday at 20:30 against Capivariano at Neo Química Arena in the sixth round of the Paulistão.
