Galatasaray have been dealt a setback after the Nigerian Football Federation rejected their bid to excuse injured Victor Osimhen from international duty, clouding his short-term availability before a trip to Trabzonspor.
Fanatik reports that Galatasaray asked the federation to leave Osimhen out of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, requesting he rest throughout the upcoming international break. The request was refused.
Osimhen suffered the issue in the 33rd minute of the 3-2 win over Basaksehir in round four of the Super Lig. Diagnosed with a muscle strain in his right thigh, he has been out for two weeks and remains doubtful for tomorrow’s meeting in Trabzon.
Papara Park stages the round six meeting, with Trabzonspor ninth on seven points seeking a reset in front of their fans. Galatasaray lead on 13 and can stretch their advantage early.
The federation’s stance leaves Galatasaray in a bind. Nigeria are holding firm over their leading forward despite his injury, a position that could extend his absence if he travels to join the Super Eagles.
