Fanatik reports that the Nigerian Football Federation has rejected Galatasaray’s request to exempt injured striker Osimhen from international duty, a setback on the eve of their trip to Trabzonspor.
Papara Park will stage the sixth-round meeting, with Trabzonspor ninth on seven points and Galatasaray top with 13 as they look to extend their early lead.
Osimhen sustained the problem in the 33rd minute of the 3-2 win over Basaksehir in round four. He was diagnosed with a muscle strain and pain in his right thigh and given a two-week layoff, leaving his availability for tomorrow’s match in doubt.
Galatasaray had asked that he be left out of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers during the upcoming international window so he could return fully fit, with Nigeria preparing for matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The decision could keep Nigeria’s number one forward in their plans despite his injury, a scenario that the club fear could aggravate the issue and extend his absence.
