Garro moved joint top of the Conmebol Libertadores assist chart and earned praise from Fernando Diniz as Corinthians drew at Estudiantes. The Argentine teed up Kaio César in the quarter-final first leg in La Plata on Wednesday night.
As reported by Globo.com, it was his fifth assist of the campaign, taking him level with Matías Fernández of Rivadavia.
After the match, Diniz highlighted Garro’s creativity and defensive commitment, saying his work with him has been very positive since arriving at the club. He noted early heavy goal involvement, some fluctuation, strong displays such as against Red Bull, and that he liked Garro’s performance in a very difficult game.
Since the start of the Libertadores, Garro has assisted Yuri Alberto and Kayke against Platense, and Gustavo Henrique in games with Santa Fé and Peñarol in the group stage. He has been involved in 50% of Corinthians’ goals in the competition.
Garro said it was important to supply the assist and for the team to score, crediting Kaio’s movement. He added that he enjoys playing with team-mates who make those runs and was happy to find the pass.
This season the number eight has 12 assists and three goals. His career-best came in 2024, also for Corinthians, with 14 assists.
