After a couple of weeks of training, Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso has been able to figure out what Adrian Przyborek can bring to the table.

The 19-year-old was one of five players who joined Maurizio Sarri’s first team in January. He completed a €4.5 million transfer from Pogon Szczecin after emerging as one of the most exciting young talents in Poland. However, the midfielder had to wait until the final day of the season to make his senior debut.

Adrian Przyborek Won’t Be Lazio’s Attacking Midfielder

With a full pre-season under his belt, Przyborek should be set for a more prominent role this season, but his playing position remains a matter of debate. In recent weeks, it has been suggested that the teenager could be Lazio’s internal solution for the attacking-midfielder role, as Gattuso switches to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

But according to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), placing the young Pole behind the striker is unlikely, as Gattuso sees him as a ‘Mezz’ala’, or an outside midfielder in a three-man midfield.

Will Przyborek Struggle for Space Under Gennaro Gattuso?

The issue for Pryborek is that Gattuso’s formation will feature a double pivot behind an attacking midfielder, so it remains unclear where he can fit in the manager’s tactical jigsaw. The youngster could be considered a backup for Kenneth Taylor in the box-to-box role, with Nicolo Rovella and Danilo Cataldi vying for the Regista position.

Who Will be Lazio’s Attacking Midfielder

After missing out on Jonathan Asp Jensen, Lazio could still recruit a new midfielder capable of playing in an advanced role. The Biancocelesti are said to be tracking unsettled Fiorentina duo Giovanni Fabbian and Marco Brescianini.

As for their current options, Boulaye Dia might be the best of the bunch, at least based on his performances in the 2024/25 season, when he found mild success playing behind Taty Castellanos.
