Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso is exploring an in-house answer for the attacking midfield berth, with teenager Przyborek under consideration during pre-season.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the 19-year-old has been trialled as a No 10 in early sessions, and it is on him to seize the opening.

At his unveiling last Saturday, Gattuso said recruitment should prioritise replacing Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli in defence, plus adding a new striker. His preferred 4-2-3-1 would also require a natural No 10, a profile missing in the squad.

Lazio pursued 20-year-old Jonathan Asp Jensen in recent weeks but failed to complete a deal, with Bayern Munich selling him to Deportivo La Coruña. Gattuso has pushed for 22-year-old Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Luka Stojkovic, yet Lazio are unlikely to afford him after a standout campaign.

Przyborek came through Pogon Szczecin’s academy and became a key figure before joining Lazio for €4.5 million in January. He made one senior appearance last season as Maurizio Sarri struggled to fit him into a 4-3-3.

Gattuso’s set-up appears well suited to the Pole, but whether he nails down a starting spot remains to be seen. Alternatively, another player could be converted for the role, or a more experienced option signed, with no candidates currently emerging.
