Girona FC press on with Arnau Martínez as Valencia CF talks continue | OneFootball

According to Superdeporte, Girona FC are pressing ahead with Arnau Martínez while talks with Valencia CF continue, and are asking for more money.

The Costa Brava club are counting on him on sporting grounds and will hold firm until Valencia’s offer comes close to their terms, currently set at eight million euros in fixed and variable payments.

Even so, negotiations remain open, Martínez has an agreement with Valencia over his future contract, and there is confidence the deal can be completed soon, although Valencia know they must commit strongly financially.

Quique Álvarez’s side open their season against Leganés on Sunday, and the right-back is to be named in the squad and is likely to start in Segunda División.

The player wants to leave, viewing his level as above Segunda and after a sharp wage cut following relegation. Even so, he recognises what Girona have given him and will continue to play until a transfer is agreed between Girona and another club.
