Girona ‘to insist’ on eight million clause in Arnau Martínez talks with Valencia | OneFootball

Valencia are negotiating with Girona for Arnau Martínez, the player wants the move and has an agreement in principle for five seasons with a salary around three million euros. Girona remain firm.

Diari de Girona reports that the club are insisting on the eight million release clause, or a sum very close via other formulas.

Valencia’s opening bid of four million plus bonuses was rejected, and with the player’s approval they planned not to exceed five million. The gap could extend talks beyond this week, initially targeted for a deal.

A possible compromise exists, internally Girona would cut the clause by about two million if they keep an equivalent percentage of the right back’s economic rights in a future sale. Another option is performance bonuses to lift the fixed fee.

Valencia face financial limits set by the majority shareholder alongside Financial Fair Play. A loan in goal, and any training compensation if Ferran Torres joins PSG, could help Carlos Corberán secure the right back this summer.

Time also presses Girona, who start LaLiga Hypermotion this weekend and need sales to reshape in Segunda. Girona are considering whether to use Arnau on Sunday or leave him out to avoid injury. He is focused on the move and could target a debut on Saturday 22 August in the Valencia - Celta.
