Valencia are still working on a deal for Arnau Martínez after a key day ended without agreement between the clubs. Girona head coach Quique Álavarez has included the right-back in his squad to face Leganés tomorrow in the opening round of Segunda.

According to AS, Ron Gourlay has been in talks with Girona all week over a transfer, and Martínez has an eight million euros release clause.

The Girona manager addressed the situation indirectly in his pre-match press conference, saying he needs players who want to be at the club, without naming Martínez.

Martínez has an agreement with Valencia on a five-year contract, but a deal still depends on the clubs reaching terms.

Valencia do not begin their LaLiga campaign until next week and there is confidence within the club that they can close the signing.

He is the preferred option to fill the vacant right-back slot, and Valencia will keep negotiating to try to complete the move.
