Agent Giuliano Bertolucci is pursuing a R$ 19 million debt from Grêmio in court, seeking the seizure of Copa do Brasil prize money and proceeds from the R$ 88.5 million, fixed, sale of defender Viery to Fiorentina.
According to GZH, the debt stems from deals and intermediations between the agent and the club and has lasted six years. A settlement could be formally approved soon.
The filing, dated 17 August, was submitted to the second Civil Court of the Regional Forum in Porto Alegre’s fourth District. It asks the court to attach any sums Grêmio holds or will receive from the CBF, in particular participation fees and Copa do Brasil 2026 prize payments for the quarter-finals and later rounds.
On Viery’s transfer, the agent’s defence requests official notices to the CBF with transaction details, and to the Italian Football Federation and Fiorentina to record the attachment.
Grêmio earned R$ four million for reaching the quarter-finals. If they beat Inter on Thursday to make the semi-finals, a further R$ nine million would be due from the CBF.
Amid financial difficulties, the club last week triggered an Event of Insolvency and was hit with a preventive block similar to a transfer ban. The measure was imposed by Anresf, an independent body created by the CBF to enforce financial fair play in Brazilian football.
