Dínamo de Moscou failed two Brazilian-based forwards in medicals, ending proposed transfers for Gonzalo Plata of Flamengo and Matheus Martins of Botafogo. Both players had travelled to Russia to sign.
Botafogo had agreed a deal for Martins worth around seven million euros, about R$42 million at current rates, but the move was halted on Tuesday when the club received the refusal, so the Rio side will not receive the fee.
The Rio club contacted Dínamo de Moscou to seek an explanation and disputes the decision, alleging the forward had been playing irregularly. They are even considering legal action over alleged improper use of the player in the media, according to GE.
Like Martins, Gonzalo Plata was failed in the medicals at Dínamo de Moscou, which voided Flamengo’s planned 12 million euro sale, about R$72 million. He will resume training at the club this week.
Both players now return to Botafogo and Flamengo respectively. Flamengo face Mirassol in the Brasileirão on Wednesday at 19:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã.
