Gonzalo Plata has failed a medical with Dynamo Moscow and will return to Flamengo this week.

The club said in a statement that the Russian side informed them he did not meet their medical parameters, and that while he had been released to undergo tests and sign, the deal would not be completed. It added that he recently represented Ecuador at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and had been featuring regularly for Flamengo.

Plata arrived in Russia on Sunday 30 to report to Dynamo and was welcomed by the club at the airport. Despite the logistics in place, the move collapsed on medical grounds.

Dynamo had offered around €12 million, roughly R$ 72 million at current rates, for the player’s economic rights, and the fee would have been paid up front.

During talks with Dynamo, Flamengo moved to bolster their attack, announcing Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas. Both are already training with the squad and are in good condition.

If registered in the CBF’s BID, the pair should be available for Flamengo’s next Brasileirão match. They host Mirassol at the Maracanã on Wednesday 02, kick-off 19:30 Brasília time.
