Gonzalo Plata has returned to Flamengo after his move to Dynamo Moscow collapsed, and he has linked up with the squad in Belém.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the €12 million transfer to the Russian club fell through after the forward failed his medical, with the assessment flagging a patellar tendon tendinopathy.

The Rio club contend he had not reported pain before travelling to Russia and hold medical reports indicating no lesion. Dynamo did not send any documentation explaining the rejection, which deepened Flamengo’s doubts over the criteria used.

After the deal collapsed, his future was unclear, with Al Wasl showing interest on a loan with an obligation to buy based on targets. That structure did not match Flamengo’s plans.

Plata has since stated that his focus is back on Flamengo. He left Rio at 22:45 on Sunday 06, arriving in Belém at 02:15 on Monday 07 to rejoin the group.

Flamengo face Independiente del Valle in Quito on Thursday 10, the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, 21:30 Brasília time. Plata is expected to travel with the delegation to Ecuador.
