According to Superdeporte, Valencia pursued late deals for Marvin Ducksch and Etta Eyong on deadline day, but neither materialised.
The club had a well-advanced loan for Ducksch, aged 32, from Birmingham City in the Championship until 30 June, but it collapsed early in the afternoon.
Ron Gourlay, however, downplayed any last-minute scramble. He said the club held 40-50 conversations and that neither Ducksch nor Etta featured, with no direct contact.
He added they were at the fair play limit with Elliott, and were alert and open to exploring arrivals or exits, but there was no interest in those players.
