Valencia’s late move to sign Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch on loan until 30 June has been halted.
As first named the 32-year-old as the choice to replace injured Umar Sadiq, and the player had approved the switch. Tribuna Deportiva reports that negotiations collapsed because Birmingham believe Valencia left it too late and will not allow a departure at this stage.
Ducksch has been named in the squad for Tuesday’s match against Southampton.
Valencia are now searching urgently for alternatives in the market.
Born on 7 March 1994 in Dortmund, the 1.88m forward has spent much of his career in Germany and is now at Birmingham City in the Championship.
A Borussia Dortmund academy graduate, he later played for Paderborn, St Pauli, Holstein Kiel, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96.
He was previously involved in a traffic accident on the A3400 near Henley-in-Arden and, for driving under the influence, was fined £16,000.
