Grêmio agree contract termination with Willian | OneFootball

Grêmio and Willian have agreed to terminate the player’s contract on Tuesday. He has said goodbye to the squad and been released by the club. According to Globo.com, the settlement covers sums owed to the player, to be paid in instalments.

He was informed in late July that he was no longer in the coaching staff’s plans, prompting negotiations to end the deal. Talks were amicable from the outset, with behind-the-scenes praise for the professionalism shown by Willian and his team.

Outstanding signing-on payments from his arrival were addressed in the agreement.

The attacking midfielder was unveiled in September 2025 and had a deal through December this year. He made 28 appearances, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

At 38, Willian is a free agent and can sign for another club. He has played nine matches for Grêmio in the Campeonato Brasileiro, so remains eligible to move to another Série A side, with the limit set at 12 appearances. His preference, for now, is to play outside Brazil.
