Habib Beye ‘seen as’ favourite to succeed Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille

Olympique de Marseille and Roberto De Zerbi parted company late last night after a damaging run that left OM off the Ligue 1 podium and out of the UEFA Champions League.

The 5-0 defeat by fierce rivals Paris Saint-Germain proved decisive, and De Zerbi felt he could take the group no further, with the separation described as mutual. Foot Mercato reports that Habib Beye is the favourite to succeed him at the Vélodrome.

Beye has just come onto the market, having been dismissed by Stade Rennais a day earlier following four successive losses and a Coupe de France exit to Marseille.

The former Red Star coach has never hidden his ambition to manage Les Phocéens.

Marseille must now choose a successor to steady their season.
