Haiti and Honduras inseparable to begin Final Round of Qualifiers

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – The Final Round of the Concacaf Qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued with Haiti and Honduras playing out a nil-nil draw in Group C on Friday at Stadion Ergilio Hato in Willemstad, Curaçao.
Frantzdy Pierrot had an early look for Haiti in the 9’ with a header from the center of the box that was high of the goal.
Jorge Benguché created back-to-back chances for Honduras. First, in the 18’ with a shot to the bottom left corner that was saved by Haiti goalkeeper Alexandre Pierre, followed by a finish in the 20’ that was wide of the right post.
Pierrot came close to finding the opener for Haiti the 32’, but his attempt to the bottom right corner was denied by a save by Honduras goalkeeper Edrick Menjívar.
Los Catrachos nearly pulled ahead at the start of the second half, in the 55’, with a powerful volley from Romell Quioto inside the box that rattled the crossbar.
Both goalkeepers stood out to secure their respective clean sheets. Pierre recorded three saves for Haiti in goal. Honduras’ Menjívar made seven saves.
Haiti will visit Costa Rica, and Honduras will host Nicaragua, next Tuesday as both nations continue their World Cup hopes.
