Harry Gray will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, with the Leeds United striker saying the club’s vast season-ticket uptake helped shape his decision.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old’s second temporary move away from Elland Road was confirmed on Tuesday, following a League One stint with Rotherham United from January to May.
Gray pointed to the mood around Hillsborough and the backing of supporters, noting that 24,000 season tickets in League One stood out. He added that a full pre-season should allow him to settle, and he hopes the stadium’s atmosphere can make this a season to remember. He considers Wednesday the right place for his next step.
Sheffield Wednesday sporting director Simon Wilson believes Gray’s elite youth record and his ability to translate those qualities into senior football were evident at Rotherham. In what he described as challenging circumstances, Wilson felt the forward still made a positive attacking impact and built solid foundations.
Rotherham’s limited chance creation was an issue last term, but Wilson says Wednesday’s playing identity will demand they produce opportunities and they expect Gray to be a major threat. He added that the club are grateful to Leeds for entrusting this phase of the youngster’s development and look forward to integrating him quickly.
