Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has spoken out on Bradley Barcola’s transfer to Liverpool this summer.

The France international looked like an exciting prospect when he first joined PSG, and although he impressed in fits and bursts, he never quite established himself a regular starter for Enrique’s side.

Ultimately, it seems this was a key reason Barcola wanted to leave to join Liverpool this summer, according to Enrique.

The PSG manager, quoted by Fabrizio Romano, says that he wishes Barcola well at Liverpool after he couldn’t guarantee him the amount of playing time he wanted at the Parc des Princes…

Luis Enrique: “Barcola grew enormously in Paris, but he also helped the team grow enormously. He wanted more playing time than I could guarantee him. In the end, I think everyone is a winner with that transfer. I truly wish him all the best.”

Some PSG fans might be disappointed to see a top player like this moving on, but they also have plenty of other quality attacking players they can call upon, so it likely won’t be a huge loss in the long term.

Bradley Barcola can become a star at Liverpool

Barcola wasn’t the main man at PSG, but he could take on a role like that now that he’s joined Liverpool, who urgently needed a marquee signing up front to replace the legendary Mohamed Salah.

Last season was a hugely disappointing one for the Reds, with Salah suffering a dip in form that was perhaps to be expected at his age.

The Egypt international ended up leaving on a free this summer, but in Barcola it looks like LFC have a real star of the future.

Still only 23 years of age, Barcola arrives at Anfield as a two-time Champions League winner, while he also caught the eye with three goals for the French national team at this summer’s World Cup.

It will be intriguing to see how he adapts to Premier League football, but with his peak years ahead of him, it looks like he made the right move to try to kick-start his career.
