Heartbroken Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds pays tribute after death of close colleague | OneFootball

Ryan Reynolds has paid an emotional tribute to Pierce Thiot, a close colleague at his creative company Maximum Effort, after Thiot died aged 40.

According to Wales Online, Thiot died of a pulmonary embolism at his home in Orem, Utah.

Thiot had worked at Maximum Effort for almost five years, contributing to some of the company’s biggest campaigns.

Reynolds said: “He was beloved. We adored and admired Pierce. He was generous with his time and love. He was funny as hell. He gave the best hugs.”

He added: “Pierce was a shining light of creativity, kindness and hard work. It is impossible to imagine the world, let alone our company, without him.”

Before joining Maximum Effort, Thiot worked on campaigns for Apple, Nike, Gatorade and Coca-Cola, and created the viral “Will It Beard?” phenomenon.

Alongside Reynolds, he helped craft campaigns for DoorDash, L’Oreal and Mint Mobile, and worked on projects for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Coyote vs. Acme. He also co-wrote National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Underdogs series.

Reynolds offered support to Thiot’s family, naming his wife Stacy, children Adelaide and Jackson, and longtime work partner Kathleen Swanson. The Wrexham co-owner, who bought the club with Rob McElhenney in 2021, has become a prominent figure in north Wales.
