Former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has criticised a Chelsea player after watching them play vs Burnley.

Chelsea won the game 2-0 in the end and they were mostly pretty good. But there was one area that they needed to improve on and were not quite enough in, and that was the attack.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in contact for player who reminds Gianfranco Zola of himself in his playing days!

Even John Terry mentioned it after the game and said it was the only thing that was concerning in an otherwise tough fought three points away from home from Chelsea.

Andrey Santos was the star man really for Chelsea and Pedro Neto described his performance as ‘outstanding’ after the game and said that they needed that type of performance from him in order to win that game.

Chelsea had to dig in and fight in this one, but it could have been made much easier if the attackers had a better game and took their chances, with Liam Delap not being in form at all and Joao Pedro being a little quiet too.

This is something that Owen has picked up on, especially one attacking moment when Delap should have laid the ball off for Neto to score but instead he took a wild shot from far out that wasted an opportunity.

As reported by Metro, Owen told Premier League productions whilst talking about that moment:

“I do think in this situation he needs to be a little bit more unselfish, he probably could have passed it a couple of times.

‘If he plays this ball in [to Pedro Neto] and makes a run to take the defender away, he will leave Neto with a one-on-one in this area. I think he’s got to do that instead of being a bit selfish and thinking he’s going to score a goal on his own. He takes a pot-shot from 25 yards and it’s not great.”
