Omari Hutchinson made the switch from Ipswich Town to Nottingham Forest during the summer window
Omari Hutchinson made the switch from Ipswich Town to Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.
The forward was a key part of Kieran McKenna’s side over the last two seasons, in particular playing a crucial role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2024, where he shone on loan from Chelsea before signing permanently at Portman Road.
But relegation back to the Championship led to his departure, which has come as a blow to the Tractor Boys given his importance to the side.
He contributed 13 goals and six assists from 75 league appearances during his time in Suffolk, the majority of which came in the Championship, before making the switch to the City Ground over the summer.
Here we use estimated figures from Capology to take a look at how his wages at Nottingham Forest compare to what he was earning as an Ipswich player…
Hutchinson signed for Nottingham Forest in a deal worth a reported £37.5 million in the middle of August.
The forward proved himself at a Premier League level even as the Tractor Boys suffered a disappointing 19th place finish in the table.
The move became a record transfer for the Reds, who qualified for the Europa League this season, with the help of UEFA interference.
The 21-year-old agreed terms on a five-year deal with the Premier League side, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.
As part of that contract, he is currently receiving £55,000 per week from Nottingham Forest, making him a middle of the range earner in the first team squad.
The highest paid permanent player in Ange Postecoglou’s side is Morgan Gibbs-White, who recently agreed terms on a new high-profile deal with the club to conclude one of the summer window's biggest sagas.
The playmaker is earning £110,000-a-week, making him one of just two players earning six figures every week from the Premier League side.
The other is Nikola Milenkovic, who joined the club in the 2024 summer transfer window and played a key role in the team’s seventh place finish in the table last season.
No other player in Postecoglou’s side earns £55,000 per week, while Hutchinson’s salary at the City Ground is greater than the likes of Ryan Yates, Igot Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi.
The highest paid permanent player in McKenna’s side is currently Dara O’Shea, with the defender receiving £35,000 per week.
Hutchinson’s current salary with Nottingham Forest is £20,000-a-week greater, highlighting the difference in spending power between sides in the Premier League and the Championship at the moment.
When the winger was competing for Ipswich, he agreed a contract worth £6,000 per week following his move from Chelsea.
The step back up to the Premier League has also seen his salary improve dramatically.
Hutchinson was one of the lower paid first team members at Portman Road, despite playing a prominent role in their promotion from the Championship.
It remains to be seen how important the 21-year-old will be at Nottingham Forest going forward, especially with the recent change in manager.
