Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has sent a message to new West Ham signing Manor Solomon via Instagram

West Ham United have finally spent a transfer fee on a player this summer after agreeing a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Israeli winger Manor Solomon, as James Maddison has sent him a message of support on social media following his switch.

West Ham has confirmed the addition of 27-year-old winger Solomon after agreeing a deal worth an initial £5 million, potentially rising to £7 million with Premier League outfit Spurs.

Solomon has penned a three-year deal in East London and will provide another option in Nuno Espirito Santo's attack ahead of the Hammers' push for promotion, as his now-former teammate, Maddison, has sent him a message of support through Instagram following his switch.

With Solomon becoming West Ham's second new arrival of the window after Joel Veltman, with Keiber Lamadrid's loan move turning permanent months ago, the 27-year-old will have received various messages following his move to the London Stadium.

One of those is from England attacking-midfielder Maddison, who spent three years contracted as Solomon's teammate in North London, having both joined the club in the summer of 2023.

However, for various reasons, from injury to loans, the pair barely featured on the pitch together, but that has not stopped the former Norwich City and Leicester City playmaker wishing his former teammate the best.

In his post, Maddison wishes Solomon nothing but the best, and refers to him as one of the 'nicest chaps' he's ever come across, and complimented his ability as a footballer.

Solomon made just six first-team appearances in three years for Spurs following his £17.3 million move from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk three years ago, spending time out on loan with the likes of Leeds United, Villarreal, and Fiorentina.

Solomon's addition to the West Ham attack will be a welcome one for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, adding another option on that left flank, especially following the lucrative sale of Crysencio Summerville to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

The 49-capped Israel international previously hit ten goals and grabbed 12 assists in 39 Championship games during his loan spell with Leeds, and knows exactly what the division is about.

Now 27, Solomon ought to be entering the prime of his career, and West Ham could become the beneficiaries of this; for just an initial £5 million, he could prove to be a steal.

The Hammers will have their sights set on automatic promotion and an immediate return to the Premier League, and Solomon could play a pivotal role in that outcome.

AZ Alkmaar's Troy Parrott is being actively pursued, whilst recent reports have seen former Leicester striker Jamie Vardy linked with a move to East London as a free agent.

It's clear that, even with the likes of Taty Castellanos, Jarrod Bowen, and now Solomon up top, the Hammers are not totally convinced with their current options.
