FC Lorient opened their doors this week, offering a rare look at a side that recently put together 12 matches unbeaten in all competitions. The survival push continues after a 0-2 defeat in Brest, with Angers visiting on Sunday at 17:15.
L'Équipe reports that days begin with a quick check-in. Players log sleep, mood, fatigue and pain on a tablet, rated from one to seven, then performance lead Pierre Bazin and staff adjust individual plans based on that snapshot and short conversations.
Activation splits the group between gym and treatment room. Assistant conditioning coach Quentin Gauvain oversees upper-body work in tailored groups built from testing, while the physios warm muscles or mobilise joints. Captain Laurent Abergel works briefly with a medicine ball, and Aiyegun Tosin receives targeted treatment.
In the dressing room, five principles sit above the players, humility, pleasure, respect, solidarity and ambition. Assistant Yannick Cahuzac urges pride in the recent streak, no loss of confidence after the derby setback, and frames the week as a fresh start towards rapid safety.
Analysts, with Baptiste Hermet and goalkeeper coach Ronald Thomas on set plays, assemble an Angers briefing across phases, dead balls and data to guide the week while keeping flexibility. Later, they note Branco Van den Boomen’s right-footed delivery and review the late, spectacular 0-1 in Toulouse.
Behind the scenes, kitman Didier races through laundry for the next day. On Wednesday from 8:30, the pros breakfast with academy players, Benjamin Leroy often first in with Panos Katseris, then joined by Théo Le Bris and Pablo Pagis, habits that help bind the group.
