Inter Miami defenders Kieran Gibbs and Brek Shea will be unavailable for the Major League Soccer side after suffering hamstring injuries during the international break.
Gibbs picked up a left hamstring injury and will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis, the team confirmed. Brek Shea, on the other hand, is expected to remain on the sidelines for approximately six to eight weeks after a lesion to his right hamstring.
The two join the long list of injured Inter Miami players, alongside Clement Diop, Ian Fray, Victor Ulloa, Damion Lowe, and Ryan Sailor.
The team has seen a rough start to their 2022 MLS campaign both on and off the pitch. Inter Miami currently sits in last place on the Eastern Conference table with one point in four matches, remaining winless.
Prior to kicking off the season, head coach Phil Neville set his sights on making the MLS playoffs after the team failed in their first two attempts.
"I always say that to compete, you've got to qualify for the playoffs, you've got to reach the playoffs. That's the first hurdle that we want to get to."
Sporting Director Chris Henderson reinforced Neville’s goal by bringing in several players to revamp the roster.
Leonardo Campana, Emerson Rodriguez, DeAndre Yedlin, Damion Lowe, and Gregore joined Inter Miami during the offseason, but the team has yet to see any type of improvement.
Though it still may be early in the season, Inter Miami must switch gears and come together quickly to salvage 2022.
