There seems to be little difference between Inter Milan and the Turkish national team for Hakan Calhanoglu, who continues to lead by example wherever he plays.

After scoring five goals in Serie A this season, the midfielder found the net again for Turkey in the 2-0 win over Bulgaria, also forcing the own goal that sealed the result.

However, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Calhanoglu’s next appearance is now in doubt.

With the final match against Spain having no bearing on the standings, coach Vincenzo Montella is considering resting his captain to avoid unnecessary risk.

Calhanoglu is one yellow card away from suspension, which would rule him out of Turkey’s crucial World Cup play-off semi-final in March.

For that reason, Gazzetta notes, Montella could opt to play it safe with the Talismanic midfielder.

Therefore ensuring the Inter playmaker returns to Appiano Gentile fully fit for the Derby della Madonnina on November 23.

A rest would cap off a productive international break for Calhanoglu, who remains one of Inter’s most decisive players both for club and country.
