International break curse strikes Arsenal again as Havertz is set for scan

Arsenal were victims of the international break injury curse for much of last season, with Martin Odegaard particularly affected during the campaign’s first international window.

The Gunners dreaded those breaks that forced them to release their players for international duty, and they have once again become victims. The latest concern involves Kai Havertz, who was forced off during the first half of Germany’s match against the Netherlands last night.

Havertz suffers injury during international duty

The window has only just begun, and Havertz has already suffered an injury after pulling up during Germany’s match. The Germans consider him one of their most important players, while the attacker has been working hard to remain valuable to his national team.

Havertz wants to stake a claim for a place in the team under Jurgen Klopp, and he started the match against the Netherlands. However, his injury before half-time will be a major concern for Arsenal, particularly given his importance to their attack.

The extent of the damage remains unknown, and Havertz was not the only German player to suffer an injury during the match. Jamal Musiala was also forced to leave the pitch after picking up an injury.

Klopp provides an injury update

After the fixture, Klopp said via Standard Sport:

“Both will undergo scans tonight.

“They’re probably out for us, but I hope they’ll be back soon (for their clubs).”

The comments indicate that further assessment will be required before the extent of Havertz’s injury becomes clear. Arsenal will therefore have to wait for the results of his scans before knowing how long he could be unavailable.

Havertz has been in excellent form since the start of the season and has been starting ahead of Viktor Gyokeres. His injury could therefore represent a significant blow to Arsenal, particularly if he is ruled out for an extended period.

The Gunners will now hope that the scans provide positive news and that Havertz can return to action for Arsenal as soon as possible.
