Ipswich Town expect permanent Julio Enciso deal but work remains | OneFootball

Ipswich Town are working on a permanent move from Strasbourg for former Albion forward Julio Enciso, which is expected but not yet complete, according to TheArgus.co.uk.

Enciso impressed on loan in Suffolk in the second half of the 2024-25 season, a campaign that ended in relegation. The club would like him to bolster their bid to stay in the Premier League, a status they regained last season.

A switch is viewed as increasingly likely, though it may not be finalised before the final pre-season game at Union Berlin this weekend.

Albion are understood to have a sell-on clause after moving Enciso to Strasbourg for less than 20 million last summer. A permanent transfer would take him out of the BlueCo family. His Strasbourg stint had been seen as a precursor to a possible move to Chelsea, as with Valentin Barco.

Enciso recently featured as a substitute for Strasbourg in Vienna in a friendly against the Seagulls. Sources around the French club were non-committal at the time about a switch to Ipswich. He is known to have a strong relationship with head coach Gary O'Neil, who moved from Strasbourg to Portman Road in the summer.

The Paraguay international left boyhood side Libertad for Albion in 2022 for a 9.5 million fee and was once tipped to become the club's next major sale.
