The clash with Cruz Azul was a true back-and-forth battle, in which Chivas once again delivered a very strong performance, looking better than their opponent for long stretches of the match. However, they were unable to capitalize on the many scoring chances they created, which ultimately cost them points on Matchday 7 of the Clausura 2026.

The fighting attitude and constant desire to win shown by his players were acknowledged by Gabriel Milito, who, in the post-match press conference, expressed pride in the team’s hunger to compete and stated that his squad still has room to grow.

Gabriel Milito’s Post-Match Comments

“The team played in the same way it has been playing. For me, we had a great match, with the same bravery as always, outperforming the opponent.”

“It leaves us with the lesson that in football you have to take care of the details. I feel for the players when they make such a huge effort and you end up losing from two set pieces.”

“We have to improve, because otherwise this can happen: they were clinical, and we’re just missing a bit more sharpness. But the team’s overall performance was very good.”

“It hurts to lose, and it’s good that it hurts. We have our style and our way of playing. Cruz Azul is a team that neutralizes you quite a bit because they press high and take risks by often playing one-on-one.”

“From a competitive standpoint, we played a great match. We needed to defend those two set pieces better and be more decisive in front of goal, because the chances were there and they were clear.”

“I congratulate the players for the great match they played and for doing everything we asked of them. Now we rest and keep going. It’s great to get used to winning, but winning every match is almost impossible in modern football.”

“What I do like is that we maintain that competitive spirit and love for the game. The team shows it match after match, regardless of the opponent or the venue.”

“The Rojiblanca Nation supports us everywhere. On every field where we play, especially away from home, the fans are with the team, they back us, they support us, and once again they cheered and stood by the team.”
