Javi Guerra’s Valencia release clause rises to €60m | OneFootball

Javi Guerra’s release clause at Valencia has increased from €40m to €60m on Saturday, triggered by the terms of his renewal last summer. The higher figure strengthens the club against late-window bids, though it does not guarantee the midfielder stays.

Valencia expect interest in the coming weeks but intend to hold firm, a shift from previous windows. The club extended Guerra’s deal to 2029 and built their 26/27 plans around him. On Thursday he fronted the unveiling of the second kit.

CEO of football Ron Gourlay plans to refer suitors for key players, including Guerra, to their release clauses. Even so, with Peter Lim involved and past precedents, no scenario is ruled out, including sales below clause value.

Recruiters across Europe are tracking Guerra, with FC Barcelona among those to make contact. Sporting director Deco met his agents in June to discuss his situation. Barcelona are monitoring him but have not submitted an offer, and any August move remains unconfirmed.

Valencia aim to keep him, and Guerra has not signalled a desire to leave. “I have always said I am happy in my city, with my people and at my club... as long as they keep wanting me the same, I will be here,” he said during the Girona camp, speaking to Tribuna Deportiva.

Head coach Carlos Corberán has used him as a No 10 ahead of the pivot and the No eight, where he excelled last season. He is expected to start today against Stoke City in a largely first-choice XI.
