Javier Aguirre close to Valencia job after Mexico's Gold Cup party | OneFootball

According to Superdeporte, Javier Aguirre is very close to becoming Valencia’s next head coach, keen to sign at Mestalla and replace interim Óscar Sánchez, who briefly covered Carlos Corberán’s position.

The veteran Mexican has amassed stints with clubs and national teams, having previously played for and managed Osasuna. His most recent post came with Mexico.

In 2025 Mexico lifted the Gold Cup again, defeating the United States 2-1 in the final to secure a second successive title. The tournament is staged every two years.
