West Ham have officially loaned Jean-Clair Todibo to Lens without an option to buy, the move confirmed on Tuesday. The France international now has a chance to kickstart his career and feature in the Champions League with Lens.

Lens said in a statement that the deal reflects their wish to add an experienced defender accustomed to top-level demands, referencing his time with France, Barcelona and the last two seasons in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old centre-back arrives after a difficult campaign at the London club, who were relegated to the Championship.

Todibo broke through at Toulouse at 18, then joined Barcelona a year later without establishing himself. He was loaned to Schalke 04 and Benfica.

He moved to Nice in 2021 before heading to West Ham, who eventually bought him for close to €40 million. He has two senior caps for France.
