Jean-Paul Rostagni, former France international, dies aged 78

According to L'Équipe, Jean-Paul Rostagni died on Monday aged 78 after a long illness.

Born in Drap and developed at Cavigal de Nice, the defender joined AS Monaco in 1966. He played 124 matches there until 1970 and made his France debut in 1969.

He later played for Bordeaux, making 57 appearances, then Paris-SG with 32, and Paris FC with 58.

He finished his professional career at OGC Nice between 1973 and 1975, adding 28 games for his beloved club. Rostagni won 25 caps for France between 1969 and 1973.

After retiring he moved into coaching at Peymeinade. He remained closely attached to his home region and will be buried in Drap.
