Jordan Teze, 26, is not expected to leave AS Monaco on deadline day despite late interest from Everton.

Everton made a move on Tuesday to take the Dutch defender on loan, with the Liverpool club seventh in the Premier League and short in that position, even turning to German midfielder Merlin Röhl. According to L’Equipe, they are instead expected to sign Lyon full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles by tonight.

Monaco’s hierarchy, notably chief executive Thiago Scuro, vetoed any loan, unwilling to lose a versatile player who could contribute this season.

The stance is reinforced by Thilo Kehrer being in advanced talks with Ajax over a loan.

Although head coach Filipe Luis currently prefers Vanderson, Teze was not at full fitness in recent matches and has been managed cautiously to avoid unnecessary risk.
