José Bordalas signs new deal to lead Getafe in Conference League

José Bordalas will remain in charge at Getafe next season after a late twist, and will lead the club in the Europa Conference League.

L'Équipe reports that the 62-year-old has signed a new two-year deal, tying him to the suburban Madrid club until 2028. He returned in 2023 after a first spell from 2016 to 2021.

Spanish media had indicated he would depart, and he was considered for the Crystal Palace job before it went to Pierre Sage.

Getafe clinched a surprise European berth by finishing seventh in La Liga last season.

Bordalas is renowned in Spain for a minimalist style, with low effective playing time in his team’s matches. Getafe ended the campaign with only 32 goals in 38 league games, yet the formula worked.
