José Boto names Gianluca Prestianni among players who would fit at Flamengo | OneFootball

Flamengo football director José Boto has highlighted four Liga Portugal players he believes could suit the Rio club, including Gianluca Prestianni. Prestianni was recently accused of racism by Vinícius Júnior and was provisionally banned for six matches by UEFA in February 2026.

The international break enabled Boto to appear at the Portugal Football Summit in Portugal. “I really like that Porto player with the difficult name, Froholdt. I followed him last year. I also like Maxi Araújo of Sporting and Prestianni. And the Portuguese, Tomás Araújo... several would certainly fit at Flamengo,” he told Record Portugal.

Prestianni plays for Benfica and was provisionally suspended for six matches by UEFA for discriminatory conduct against Vinícius Júnior during a Champions League match between Benfica and Real Madrid in February 2026.

He was booed by Flamengo fans during a mid-season friendly in Portugal against Benfica, with supporters chanting Vinícius Júnior’s name.

Maximiliano Araújo is a left-back or wing-back who played for Uruguay at the last World Cup. Froholdt is a Porto midfielder and a Denmark international, and Tomás Araújo is a Benfica centre-back.
