José Renato Quaresma announces bid for Santos presidency | OneFootball

José Renato Quaresma, a businessman from Baixada Santista and former director under Andrés Rueda and Marcelo Teixeira, has launched his bid for the Santos presidency. According to Globo.com, he confirmed his candidacy on Tuesday.

Quaresma, who holds a degree in business administration, became Teixeira’s youth academy director at the start of the administration in January 2024. He left the role in March this year, with Elamo Blumer taking over.

He previously sat on Rueda’s Management Committee, where he handled professional football matters. He stepped down in June 2021 to focus on his mental health.

In a campaign video, he spoke of pride in being a Santos supporter and said he had helped the club through work, experience and love without seeking payment. He described the current moment as painful and said it was time for the tide to turn.

He said he was ready to take a new step and knew what was needed for Santos to return to the top, urging supporters to join him. He is running under the "da base ao topo" slogan, positioning himself against Teixeira.

Mauricio Maruca will also stand in December’s election after outlining his plans at an event in São Paulo. Ivan Luduvice is expected to run too, having presented himself as a pre-candidate in social media videos.
