Sports journalist Burhan Can Terzi was detained in Istanbul amid an investigation into his claims that Galatasaray had an agreement to sign Jamal Musiala.

Marca reports that he was picked up on Tuesday as prosecutors in Bakırköy opened a case over the alleged 'public dissemination of misleading information'.

Terzi had asserted that the club had sealed a deal for the Bayern Munich player, a claim Galatasaray officially denied.

The row intensified as he repeated the reports, angering Galatasaray, who argued the continued circulation could mislead public opinion after their denial.

He refused to retract, saying multiple sources pointed to the possibility of Musiala joining the Galatasaray camp, and he was prepared to stake his professional reputation on the information.

During the probe he identified Turkish businessman Oktay Ercan, owner of Belgian side Westerlo, as the source of the tip. He later gave a statement to police and left the station free.

Officials treated the detention as a procedural step within the investigation, not a judicial conviction, and he remains out of custody.
