With the Ghirls aiming to get back to winning ways this weekend, the last few fixtures have been frustrating for the Celtic squad.

However, there have been some things to take away from the Hoops’ last outing, with Kelsey Daugherty grabbing her first clean sheet since early February.

The Celtic shot-stopper was on superb form between the sticks for the Celts on Wednesday evening, producing some top saves in the 0-0 draw with Hibernian.

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s trip to take on Motherwell at K-Park, the American reflected on her performance, insisting it was a good feeling from a personal perspective to get that first clean sheet since Celtic’s visit to Tannadice.

Although, the goalkeeper naturally came away frustrated at not picking up all three points.

Daugherty also reflected on the recent change in formation to a back four, with the Hoops showcasing fluidity once more within their shape.

She said: “It felt good to get a clean sheet. It feels like it’s been a while since I last got one, so I was happy with that.

“But to get a clean sheet and have a good part to play in keeping that, of course, from a personal point of view feels good.

“As a defence, we spoke about it before the game. We wanted to keep that clean sheet and get that job done.

'That was my focus and also keeping that belief that we were going to score. Obviously, that unfortunately didn’t end up coming, but keeping that focus is always important.'

“Obviously when we play different formations, that changes my positioning and options, or where I look to play.

“We have kind of moved between a few formations this season, with the Champions League and stuff.

“So, it’s not completely new, and we did do a good bit of work on that back during the January break, where we did have time. So, it’s something that we are somewhat used to.”

With the Hoops going into Sunday searching for a return to winning ways, it has been a frustrating few weeks for Daugherty and her team-mates.

But the goalkeeper is remaining upbeat as the Ghirls eye up all three points this weekend at K-Park.

The 28-year-old insisted that the Celtic fans have a huge role to play, with their support meaning the world to the entire squad.

“It’s been a tough time, obviously," she said. "Coming off last season, you’ve got the pressures and the expectations.

“Not even just from the outside, but as a team. The ones which you set for yourself.

“So, it’s obviously going to be hard. But I think we have a really good squad and the energy inside the team is good.

“We all really believe in each other, so we will just keep fighting and keep going after it. You never know what can happen, so you can’t give up on it.

'We’ve got the best fans in the league, in the world maybe. They’re support is always a big part.'

“It feels like game in, game out, no matter where we are, you are at a home game and that is due to their support.

“Obviously, things haven’t been going our way lately. But they do keep showing up and being loud.

“It means everything to us as players.”
