Kevin Danso completes Sunderland move | OneFootball

Sunderland have completed the signing of Kevin Danso from Tottenham on a season-long loan.

The Black Cats will pay around £2.5 million for the loan, while a further £22.5m will be due if they remain in the Premier League this season. Should the transfer become permanent, Danso will sign a four-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

The 27-year-old Austria international reunites with Sunderland director of football Florent Ghisolfi, who previously worked with the defender at RC Lens and knows his qualities well.

Danso made the move before Tuesday’s transfer deadline after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke.

He scored in Spurs’ 5-1 Carabao Cup victory over Charlton Athletic last week but was an unused substitute in the opening-day defeat to Brentford. He was also left out of the squad for Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi had confirmed Danso was among several players who wanted to leave before the deadline.

Spurs are expected to replace him with Tosin Adarabioyo in a deal worth around £7m.
