The upcoming Finalissima showdown between Spain and Argentina has been given a new date.

That’s according to Marca, who have confirmed that the fixture will now be played a day earlier than previously planned.

The matchup, set to pit the European champions against their South American counterparts, is now set for March 27th.

It will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The change in date, it is added, comes amid efforts on the part of FIFA to provide fans with the feeling of ‘a grand final’.

It should also be noted that these plans come amid the assumption that Spain will book a direct place at the 2026 World Cup. Should this not prove to be the case, and La Roja require the playoffs, a new date will need to be decided upon.

Next year’s Finalissima has long been billed as a showdown between the past and future of world football, in being set to pit eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi against Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal.
