Lazio ask for Miretti on loan but Juventus want a permanent sale | OneFootball

Lazio have asked Juventus about a loan move for Fabio Miretti, only to find the Bianconeri willing to sanction a permanent sale.

According to Tuttosport, relaying Nicolò Schira, Lazio have registered their interest in the midfielder as they look to raise the quality of Gennaro Gattuso’s squad, a group that, so far, has received little from the club after a difficult campaign that ended without European qualification.

Miretti, who has progressed through spells at Juventus and on loan at Genoa, is seen as a young, versatile option capable of filling several midfield roles.

Juventus will only sell Miretti permanently, seeking €15m

The problem is the formula as Lazio would prefer a loan, but Juventus have a clear plan.

Chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara are open only to a permanent sale, and want to bank around €15m for the player.

That message has now been sent to the capital, leaving sporting director Angelo Fabiani to await Juventus’s next move.

Much will also depend on how Juventus’s own midfield takes shape as Miretti offers Luciano Spalletti genuine flexibility.

He is able to operate as a central midfielder or attacking midfielder, in a two or a three, and could yet prove useful to Gattuso in exactly the same way. For now, Lazio remain at the window, waiting to see whether their interest can develop into a concrete negotiation.
