Lazio have reportedly revived their interest in Fabio Miretti, asking Juventus if they would be willing to loan him out.
Gennaro Gattuso has identified a centre-back and a striker as his top priorities on the market before the end of the summer, but the squad could do with another midfielder, especially one who can help the manager implement his favorite 4-2-3-1 formation by operating between the lines.
Earlier in the summer, the Aquile had an agreement with Jonathan Asp Jensen, but they couldn’t close the deal with Bayern Munich, so the promising Dane eventually signed for Deportivo La Coruña. Gattuso would have loved to bring in Luka Stojkovic, but Dinamo Zagreb’s asking price was too high, while no concrete progress was made for Fiorentina duo Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian.
According to recent reports in the Italian press (as reported by LazioNews24), the Biancocelesti have once again enquired about Miretti, who has been on their shortlist for quite some time. The 23-year-old is a Juventus youth product who was promoted to the first team in 2022, but has yet to lock down a starting role.
The versatile midfielder’s best exploits came during his loan spell at Genoa in the 2024/25 campaign, so he could be tempted to leave Turin once again in search of a more prominent role. However, Lazio cannot afford to buy the Italian player, so it remains to be seen if Juventus would be willing to send him on another loan spell, taking into consideration that his contract expires in 2028.
Miretti’s fate could also depend on the Bianconeri’s arrivals and outgoings, and whether he would be considered important to Luciano Spalletti’s plans, or surplus to requirements. Juve are hoping to part ways with Teun Koopmeiners, and they’re tracking Franck Kessie, who could arrive as a replacement.
