According to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio have approached free agent Icardi about a Serie A return after his Galatasaray deal expired. The club contacted his entourage to discuss salary terms.
Lazio are searching for a striker and, with a limited budget, are monitoring the free-agent market.
A major obstacle is Icardi’s preference to wait for a Champions League club, though regular playing time could sway him.
The Argentine has 121 goals and 31 assists in 219 Serie A appearances.
He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in November 2024, yet still delivered 16 goals in 47 outings for Galatasaray last season.
The 33-year-old first moved to Sampdoria in 2011 from Barcelona’s youth system. Inter signed him for €13m in 2013, and after behind-the-scenes clashes he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. He then played for Galatasaray from 2022 until June 2026, when his contract was allowed to run down.
