Lazio’s push for Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova has hit a hurdle, with progress linked to Matteo Cancellieri’s exit.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio hope to take Zhegrova on loan with an option to buy. The 27-year-old earns a net €2.5 million per year, which the club could cover, but the move is considered feasible only if Cancellieri departs.

Zhegrova emerged as a target this week as the Biancocelesti look to strengthen out wide. They have already added Alfonso Pedraza, Danilho Doekhi, Davide Frattesi, Josip Sutalo and Andrea Pinamonti in other areas.

Cancellieri has been linked with several Serie A sides, with Genoa understood to have made the most concrete offer. He might be holding out for Fiorentina or Bologna, who are pushing for European places.

If no other proposals arrive, he could reconsider his stance, though he risks spending the season on the bench. Gustav Isaksen is said to be ahead of him in Gennaro Gattuso’s plans.

Cancellieri joined Lazio in 2022 and spent two seasons on loan at Empoli and Parma between 2023 and 2025. His deal expires at the end of this season, giving the club another incentive to cash in.
