Lazio ‘to move for’ Juventus winger as Genoa push for Matteo Cancellieri | OneFootball

Lazio are bracing for the possible exit of Matteo Cancellieri, and could look to Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova as his replacement.

Cancellieri started Lazio’s first two official matches but could still depart, with Gennaro Gattuso viewing Gustav Isaksen as his first choice on the right. Isaksen impressed off the bench against Bologna, while Cancellieri struggled. Sky Sport Italia reports that Genoa are leading the chase for the 24-year-old, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

The Grifone are keen to finalise a deal quickly to strengthen Daniele De Rossi’s attack after their controversial opening-day loss to Napoli. Fiorentina, coached by Fabio Grosso, are also interested but have yet to make a concrete move.

If Lazio offload Cancellieri, they would make room for a winger. La Lazio Siamo Noi suggests Zhegrova is a name under consideration.

The 27-year-old made his name at Lille before joining Juventus last summer for 15 million. Recovering from a long-term injury, he struggled for rhythm and minutes, making 27 appearances in all competitions without a goal or assist.

After a positive pre-season, he remains behind Francisco Conceicao in Luciano Spalletti’s pecking order. Nico Gonzalez is another option for the same role, although he is pushing to leave.
