Le Mans, newly promoted to Ligue 1, are set to sign Daouda Traoré on a season-long loan with an option to buy. According to L'Équipe, the Southampton midfielder, aged 20, is due in the Sarthe on Monday.

The clause’s value has not been disclosed. The move would add to summer arrivals Louis Mafouta, Billal Brahimi, Yasser Larouci and Rayan Bamba.

Traoré spent the second half of last season on loan at Bari. Final details are being completed before an announcement expected early in the week.

He should be available to face the UNFP team on Saturday 8 August.

He joined Southampton in 2024 from Nice and is yet to feature for the first team. The Ivry-sur-Seine native, developed at Nice, is expected to reinforce Patrick Videira’s midfield. He has one Ligue 1 appearance, made in 2023-2024 with Nice.
